Library Director (Full-Time)
The Carnegie-Schadde Memorial Public Library in Baraboo, Wisconsin is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and community-focused leader to serve as its next Library Director.
Reporting to a nine-member Library Board, the Director is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the library. This includes implementing board policies, supervising a talented staff of 11.0 FTE, and overseeing a $1 million annual operations budget. The Director also manages the daily operations of a newly renovated and expanded 32,000 sq. ft. facility, completed in 2023. Located in the heart of historic downtown Baraboo, our library is a well-loved and strongly supported hub of community engagement and lifelong learning.
About Baraboo
Baraboo is a vibrant, historic city of approximately 13,000 residents (library service population: 20,000) located in Sauk County, just 40 miles northwest of Madison and 12 miles south of Wisconsin Dells. Known as the former winter home of the Ringling Brothers Circus, Baraboo blends small-town charm with cultural richness and creative spirit. The area is surrounded by natural beauty, including three Wisconsin State Parks—Devil’s Lake State Park is just three miles from the library.
Qualifications
· MLS from an ALA-accredited program.
· Eligibility for a Grade 1 Wisconsin Library Certificate.
· At least 2 years of public library experience, including management/supervisory responsibilities.
· Preferred: 5+ years of progressively responsible library experience, including substantial administrative experience.
Salary: $80,184 – $104,270 DOQ
