Summer Programs

 

Writer Workshop

Tuesday, May 31, 4 pm-5 pm

This Teen Tuesday is all about creative writing. Whether you are a poet, a fiction writer, a comics creator, or anything in between, this is the program for you! We will discuss the writing process, where we get inspiration, bounce ideas off of one another, and share work (if you choose). Each attendee will recieve a composition notebook that we will decorate.

 

Magic: The Gathering Club

Friday, June 3, 3:30-5:45 pm

Join us for our  Magic: The Gathering Club, which will meet several times a month, by popular demand. This will be a time for teens to play the game with other teens in a relaxed atmosphere, where they can ask questions and learn about the game. A local volunteer and expert will be on hand to answer questions about the game. Beginners  are welcome, as well as more advanced players.  Please call the library or email beth@csmpl.org with any questions you may have.

Premade decks will be available for players to use. Freebies and prizes are often given out at our club meetings.

 

Lawn Games

Tuesday, June 7, 4 pm-5 pm

Join us for an hour of summer lawn games. We will have cornhole, giant bowling, giant Jenga, and others. We will have snacks and have lots of fun!

 

Gyotaku Fish Painting with Justine Bula of Sauk County Land Resources and Environment

Tuesday, June 14, 4 pm-4:45 pm

Paint. Fish. Fun. What more could you ask for? Justine Bula, from Sauk County Land Resources and Environment, will share the ancient Japanese practice of fish painting, called Gyotaku, and teens will get to try the process themselves. All materials will be provided, and no fish will be harmed in the process.  THIS PROGRAM WILL TAKE PLACE AT MAXWELL-POTTER CONSERVANCY (700  Hill St, Baraboo).

Devil's Lake State Park Cleanup

Tuesday, June 21, 4 pm-5 pm
Meet us at Devil’s Lake for an hour of community service. We will spend time volunteering at the park, enjoying snacks, and helping to make Baraboo’s most famous park a beautiful place to be. WE WILL MEET AT THE NORTH SHORE VISITOR CENTER FOR THIS PROGRAM.

 

Teen Book Club

Friday, June 24, 4 pm-5 pm

By popular demand, a book club just for teens (anybody in grades 6-12) will be available on every fourth Friday of the month, from 4:00-5:00 pm at the library. Teens will have the opportunity to choose books that are discussed, as well as participate in discussions in a safe and welcoming environment. Snacks will be provided.

Books will be available to check out at the library, or through LinkCat. Please contact Beth for more information: beth@csmpl.org.

 

Paint the Square

Tuesday, June 28, 4 pm-5 pm
Show off your artistic talent on a large canvas—the city’s sidewalks! We will use sidewalk chalk to decorate Baraboo’s downtown sidewalks.

Shark Week!
Tuesday, July 5, 4 pm-5 pm
Shark Week OOH HA HA! This summer is all about the Big Blue, and we will be celebrating all things sharks at this program. Learn about these incredible creatures with fun games and crafts. If you love sharks, the ocean, or the color blue, you will want to experience this program with us!

 

DIY Buddha Board

Tuesday, July 12, 4 pm-5 pm
Buddha Boards are a beautiful way to express disruptive thoughts, negative emotion, or can be used as a means of meditation. At this program, each teen will make their own Buddha Board that they can take home and use in their own individual way.

Ice Cream and Chill

Tuesday, July 19, 4 pm-5 pm
Is there anything better than ice cream on a hot summer day? We will have a full  ice-cream sundae bar (with allergy-friendly options included) and teens can make as many sundaes as they like, play games, and hang out with their friends.  We might even make our own ice cream!

Pirate “Glow in the Dark” Scavenger Hunt-Teen Edition
Tuesday, July 26, 4 pm-5 pm
Teens will walk around downtown Baraboo looking for “pirate” window displays. A paper object will be hidden and the letter on each paper found with a black light will uncover a secret message. If you solve the puzzle, you’ll win a prize! The scavenger hunt begins and ends at the library.

Let's Take a Hike!

Let’s celebrate our beautiful summer weather with a walk through a park. There is a lovely trail at Maxwell-Potter we can explore.  TEENS WILL MEET AND CAN BE PICKED UP AT MAXWELL-POTTER CONSERVANCY (700  Hill St, Baraboo).
